This project involved migrating WordBasic macros to VisualBasic for Applications (VBA).

The company used a large set of Microsoft Word Autotext fragments to generate customer offers. Each fragment described one of their products, and an offer was simply a compilation of different fragments into a single Word document.

The original program consisted of WordBasic scripts that inserted all Autotexts into a document for editing the product descriptions. My task was to convert these scripts to VisualBasic for Applications (VBA).

The problem with storing product descriptions as Autotexts was that the approach did not scale – it was unsuitable for concurrent access, and the text fragments were very hard to maintain. As a solution, I wrote a prototype in Visual Basic called Inventory Management 1.0, which was presented to the company. Unfortunately, they chose an already established application instead.
